Pope Pio II

The sacred relic of the Passion and Suffering of Our Redeemer was held in particularly high esteem by Pope Pio II Piccolomini who again conferred f ormal recognition of the relic and held that it be celebrated on the Day of Ascension.

The same Pope, ill with gout, prayed to the precious blood for cure and recovered.
